How Hartman Gate Services Got Its Start

Hartman Gate Services opened its doors in Lancaster, PA in 2015 with a simple premise: do the work right, charge a fair price, and treat people with respect. Cristopher Crane founded the company after years of field experience in the gate and access control industry. He saw how the job was often done — corners cut, work subcontracted out, customers left with systems that needed attention again six months later — and decided to do it differently.

Starting small in Lancaster County, Hartman Gate Services built its reputation one job at a time. Residential customers spread the word to their neighbors. Commercial property owners called back for their next project. The business grew because the work was good and the people behind it were straight with their customers.

Today, Hartman Gate Services handles everything from residential driveway gates to commercial automated entry systems — all with the same in-house crew and the same commitment to doing the job properly the first time.

A lot of gate companies in the Lancaster area — and especially the larger regional ones — subcontract their work. You call them, they send someone you've never met from a third-party crew, and if something goes wrong, good luck getting accountability. That's not how we operate.
